SE Electronics was founded by Siwei Zou, whose initial line of microphones was created in collaboration with one of China’s government-owned microphone manufacturers, likely Feilo. When the manufacturer was later sold into private ownership by the government, Zou set up his own manufacturing facility in Shanghai, although some speculate that SE’s new facility is colocated within the Feilo plant.
SE sources some microphone parts from outside, but does the assembly, including capsule construction, in-house. Every mic is individually tested both at the component level and once finished; retailed mics include an individual frequency plot.
The company’s microphones carry a 2-year warranty, which can be extended by 1 year (to 3 years total) by registering the mic online shortly after purchase.
