SE Electronics X1D
Cardioid Condenser Microphone
The X1D is a large-diaphragm cardioid condenser microphone designed specifically for kick drum. The front diaphragm of its capsule is metallized with titanium rather than the more typical gold or gold/aluminum alloy, in order to give the microphone better transient response.
This capsule is stiffer than our gold-sputtered capsules, meaning quicker transient response, which is important when recording instruments that create fast transients and attack like drums and percussion…
Switches on the microphone body independently enable a -10dB pad and high-pass filter.
Although nominally part of the X1 mic series, the X1I uniquely does not share the same body as the X1, X1R, and X1T microphones. The X1D has a more cylindrical grille, with radiused rather than sharp corners.
The sensitivity specification has not been provided, although sE has claimed a max SPL of 170dB (presumably with pad enabled).
The SE Electronics X1D is also known as: X1-D.
The mic was released in 2014.
