Cardioid Condenser Microphone
The USB 1000a was a USB version of the sE 1000a, a small-diaphragm FET condenser mic intended as an entry-level product for home studio owners.
The USB version of the mic was built around a proprietary chipset whose functions, according to sE, included cleaning up the 5V power supply from the USB port to provide steady, clean power for the capsule.
The onboard ADC was capable of 44.1 or 48kHz operation. We believe this was a 16-bit converter.
A switch below the headbasket allows selection of PC or Apple modes. We have no further details about the functionality of this switch.
The mic was discontinued in 2010.
