Avant Electronics is run by husband-and-wife team Sue and Ken Avant. Sue is the CEO; Ken is the chief product designer. The company sources microphone parts from numerous factories in China and the US, but the designs are largely done by Ken at the company’s Upland, CA headquarters.

For some models, Avant ships components (such as tubes and transformers) to the factories in China where final assembly is done.

Avant does extensive testing on all microphones; a member of the staff in California tests every tube, every capsule, every finished microphone: each mic from the factory is wired to a preamp and individually tested for plosives and sibilance, and prior to this, some components (such as tubes) are tested before assembly.
