Avant Electronics CV-28
MSRP: $429 Detachable-Capsule Pencil Condenser Tube Microphone
Description
The CV-28 is a small-diaphragm tube condenser with three interchangeable capsules providing three pickup patterns: cardioid, omni, and hypercardioid. Unlike related multipattern SDCs, only the internal capsule is changed — the external grille assembly must be removed first, and then replaced.
The diaphragm in these capsules measures 6 microns in thickness.
The mic is manufactured by ShuaiYin in Shanghai, China; see their model SYT-28 (link in sidebar). It is a visual clone of the Groove Tubes GT44 and Sterling’s ST44 as well.
The tube is a 6J1B, a Chinese-made tube sourced by the manufacturer. The transformer is also of Chinese origin.
Includes a padded wooden box, suspension shockmount, dedicated power supply, power cable, 3 interchangeable capsules (omni, cardioid, hypercardioid), an aluminum flightcase, and a 5-year warranty.
The Avant Electronics CV-28 is also known as: CV28.
