Mods for the TCM1150

  • Microphone PartsMicrophone Parts
MicParts offers a full suite of upgrades for the Apex 460 (and all other rebadged Alctron T11A microphones): C12 style grilles, upgraded K47, K67/K87, and CK12 style capsules, and two different circuits.

The “Fox 460” circuit is a massively upgraded CCDA topology, including a selected 6072 tube, custom-wound transformer, and a third-generation circuit made with the best parts on the market.

The “V-251” circuit is a single triode design with a T14 transformer.

Multi-Pattern Tube Condenser Microphone

The TCM-1150 is a variable-pattern, dual-diaphragm, large diaphragm tube condenser mic that is a favorite starting point for mic modders.

It is manufactured in China, although as with all outsourced manufacturing it is impossible to state specifically which factory might have produced the mic at any time. Indeed, it is likely the supplier has changed since the mic’s introduction, and maybe for each production run.

The mic uses a 6072/12AT7 tube, a 1-inch diaphragm that is almost certainly a Chinese-made K67-style (center-terminated, dual-diaphragm) capsule, and a 9-way pattern selection switch on the power supply.
