MXL 990 USB Stereo
MSRP: $250 X/Y Stereo Condenser Stereo Microphone
Description
MXL’s 990 USB Stereo is an XY-stereo microphone with an onboard analog-digital converter that is capable of 16-bit, 48kHz sampling.
The capsules and preamp electronics are identical to the 990 Stereo microphone: dual 20mm gold-sputtered diaphragms (in 22mm-diameter capsules) mounted at 90° to one another, with dual Class A transformerless preamp circuits. Whereas the 990 Stereo mic has a 5-pin XLR connector (to output two separate analog audio streams), the USB version has a single USB jack and outputs a stereo digital audio stream.
The 990 USB Stereo incorporates a 3-way pad not found on the XLR version of the mic. The three positions are marked “High” (flat / 0dB attenuation), “Medium” (-5dB), and “Low” (-10dB).
