Mods for the Elroy

Dave Thomas can replace the 6J1 tube with a 6072a, and optionally replace the stock transformer. Coupled with circuitry changes, these changes yield more headroom and higher SPL. The stock capsule can be swapped for a dual-diaphragm Peluso model such as the CEK-367. - Microphone Parts
Upgrade the Cascade Elroy with an RK-47 or RK-12 capsule. The RK-47, based on the Neumann K47, provides a midrange-focused sound, with a present but not hyped high end. The RK-12, based on AKG’s CK-12, provides a brighter sound with a smoother high-frequency lift than the stock Elroy capsule.

Multi-Pattern Tube Condenser Microphone
The Cascade Elroy is a 3-pattern, dual-large-diaphragm tube mic based on the 6J1 tube. It appears to be a first cousin to CAD’s Trion 8000, and is possibly a rebadged ShuaiYin SYT-3000.
The dual diaphragms measure 32mm in diameter and support three pickup patterns, switched from the mic body (as on the Trion 8000). Omni, Cardioid, and Figure-of-8 pickup patterns are supported.
A “dual-position” switch on the back of the mic body provides access to either the high pass filter or the -10dB pad.
The mic body incorporates a yoke mount; Cascade claims that internal shockmounting of the capsule makes the use of an external shockmount unnecessary.
The mic ships in a padded bag, with a power supply and cable, microfiber cleaning cloth, and an aluminum flight case.
