Blue Microphones
Blue (for Baltic Latvin Universal Electronics) began in 1995 as a collaboration of two audio industry veterans with an unconventional approach to design and manufacturing. Blue, LLC co-founder Skipper Wise combined his experience as a musician and producer with co-founder Martins Saulespurens’ career as a technical audio and electronics engineer to create a “synergy of style and substance.”
The founding principle behind the establishment of Blue was simple: raise the bar for excellence and innovation in the field of microphone design and technology.
Blue’s mics are well-known for their unconventional designs.
Company founders Wise and Saulespurens sold a majority stake of BLUE to Transom Capital Group in April 2008; the new owners doubled the size of the staff (to 50) and broadened the company’s focus to include consumer recording products. The company’s Snowball mic has since become the best-selling wired USB microphone on the market.
The company has, in 2009-2010, expanded its product line to include four “performance” microphones for stage use. The en•CORE line includes dynamic vocal and instrument mics, an “active dynamic” vocal mic, and a handheld condenser.
In 2010, Blue Microphones was listed within Deloitte’s 2010 Technology Fast 500™, a ranking of the fastest-growing tech companies in North America, due to its 3x revenue growth from 2005–2009.
