Blue began in 1995 as the vision of a pair of audio industry veterans whose unique and varied skills and backgrounds had a distinct effect on shaping Blue’s unconventional approach to design and manufacturing. Blue, LLC co-founder, Skipper Wise, combined his experience as an accomplished musician and producer with co-founder Martins Saulespurens’ career as a technical audio and electronics engineer to create a synergy of style and substance that is uniquely Blue.

The founding principle behind the establishment of Blue was simple: raise the bar for excellence and innovation in the field of microphone design and technology.

Blue’s mics are perhaps best known for their unconventional designs.

Credit for these designs has been a source of dispute, as is the source of manufacturing. Read claims made by Juris Zarins about the rights to Blue’s microphone designs, and an unofficial and unsigned response by Blue. For a time, several of the Blue mics were sold under the name JZ1, JZ2, JZ3, JZ4, JZ5, JZ6, by the company JZMics — founded by Juris Zarins. The fact that JZMics is no longer selling these mics suggests that Blue prevailed in a related legal action.
