Audix f2
Hypercardioid Dynamic Microphone
The Audix f2 is a lightweight, compact dynamic microphone for drum and percussion use.
The f2 is part of the company’s “fusion” series, a lower cost alternative to their D series microphones. While the previous fusion series was built overseas, the new line is assembled and tested in the USA.
Electronic Musician, 2011
The f2 exhibits a fairly noticeable 3kHz peak, which adds attack to the toms (or conga slap) without adding boominess for a natural sound, whether on rack or floor toms.
The mic uses the LM (low mass) Type A capsule technology.
There are several factors that distinguish the f2 from the D2:
- Body material and shape
- LM vs VLM capsules
- frequency response and curve
- sensitivity
The f2 ships with the DCLIP mic clip and a storage pouch. The company’s various mounts for drum hoops, tension rods, and guitar cabinets are available separately.
