SupercardioidSennheiser Electronics Corporation ME 66

Supercardioid Condenser Microphone

Sennheiser’s ME 66 is a short shotgun capsule head for the K6 series of head amplifiers.

The K6 series includes two power modules / head amplifiers, plus a selection of capsules offering a variety of polar patterns. The ME 66 is one of two shotgun-style capsule attachments; the other is a long shotgun. (See the link to the ME 67 in the sidebar.)

The ME 66 capsule head has high sensitivity, 50 mV/Pa, and remarkably low self-noise for a small-diaphragm design — just 10dBA.

Dan Brockett - 2001

If money is no object, (relatively speaking), the Sennheiser K6 with both the ME-66 and ME-67 capsules would be a great choice. Based upon this test, this is the system we are going to purchase for our own lower budget DV projects. I would encourage only users who will mostly shoot in sound controlled environments or users who want to camcorder mount a shotgun to go with the K6/ME-66 combo.

The Sennheiser Electronics Corporation ME 66 is also known as: ME66.
