CardioidOktava MK-103

Cardioid Pencil Condenser Microphone

The Oktava MK-103 combines the MK-011/MK-103 medium diaphragm capsule and MK-012 transformerless head amplifier.

The 103 was developed as a middle ground between the fast transient catching small diaphragm models and the flattering character of the large diaphragm models.

Although the Cardioid polar pattern widens toward omnidirectional below 100Hz, off-axis and rear rejection is generally very good.

The mic’s published frequency response is nominally flat from 35Hz–4kHz, followed by a broad, subtle presence boost (+3dB) from 5–7kHz. The HF -3dB point is above 20kHz.

The MK-103 kit includes the MK-012 head amplifier, MK-103 capsule head, inline -10dB pad module, and a metal mic clip, packed into a padded wooden jeweler’s case.

The Oktava MK-103 is also known as: MK103.

The mic was released in 2006.
