The “KMS 104 plus” is a version of the KMS 104 handheld vocal consdenser designed specifically for the female voice within a “rock and pop” context.

In comparison with the KMS 104 and KMS 105, the acoustic properties of the bass range have been redefined. Wolfgang Fraissinet, President of Marketing/Sales at Neumann Berlin explains: “In close cooperation with professional musicians, with the aid of extensive practical tests, the KMS 104 plus has been especially optimized for the requirements of female voices in the rock and pop field.”
The KMS104 has a built-in, hard-wired high-pass filter. We speculate that this filter was tuned in some way, or possibly removed, to produce the KMS 104 plus.
A comparison of the frequency-response charts of the KMS104 and KMS104-Plus shows that the Plus has a lower -3dB point for “free field” use: 90Hz rather than the KMS104’s 125Hz. For near-field use (defined as 5cm), the proximity boost of the Plus provides a heightened bass response, +12dB at 100Hz, compared to +8dB for the KMS104.
The KMS 104 plus ships with a mic clip (p/n SG 105) and a padded nylon storage bag. A foam windscreen (p/n WSS 100) is available separately.
The KMS 104 plus won a TEC award in 2010 for outstanding technical achievement.
