MXL Tempo XLR
Cardioid Condenser Microphone
The Tempo XLR is a studio condenser from MXL’s “Tempo” series. It is the first non-USB mic in the series, but retains the line’s familiar form factor and styling.
The capsule is described as a 22mm design, but is very likely MXL’s standard 17mm small-diaphragm design. However, we note that the USB Tempo mic uses an electret capsule, so it is possible the XLR version breaks from MXL’s traditional capsule choices.
The circuit is described only as a “FET preamp;” we assume it is MXL’s standard transformerless design. Like the 604 pencil mic, this circuit has a switchable 10dB pad.
The Tempo XLR ships with a ring mount and polishing cloth.
