M-Audio Solaris
Multi-Pattern Condenser Microphone
The Solaris is a large diaphragm FET condenser with 3 polar patterns, -10dB pad and gentle 125Hz low-cut filter.
Like M-Audio’s other studio condenser mics, the Luna and Sputnik, the Solaris features a lollipop-style machined metal body. The Solaris has a matte silver finish. The metal used for the body is not specified.
Electronic Musician 2004
The highs of the Solaris weren’t quite as smooth as those of the Dragonfly and the C 3000 B, but the overall sound was clean and clear. The Solaris was especially nice on a soft-spoken female vocalist reading text, because it provided good definition on a quiet, smooth voice without emphasizing sibilance.
In 2006, the mic’s MSRP was $349.95.
The Solaris is packaged with a shockmount and aluminum case.
