OmnidirectionalEarthworks Audio M30

Omnidirectional Condenser Microphone

The Earthworks M30 is a calibrated measurement condenser.

The mic has linear response from 5Hz–30kHz, uniform omnidirectional pickup, and excellent transient response (due to the very small electret element).

The M30 is intended for free-field acoustic and sound equipment measurement applications. It comes with an individual frequency chart; its electronic calibration data file is supplied by Earthworks upon request.

The M30 and QTC30 share a capsule and impedance conversion circuitry; the only substantial differences between these two mics are:

  • The M30 is longer (has a longer tip) to keep the capsule farther from the body, which can cause reflections that affect impulse response.
  • The M30 has a more rigorous acceptance test, to ensure that every mic exceeds ANSI and IEC 61094 standards.

Akustyk - 2010
I must point out that the microphone requires nearly flawless technique. If you decide to purchase the M30, I encourage you to spend some time in the lab learning how best to utilize its superb acoustic qualities. If you do, you will be rewarded with wonderfully rich recordings of speech.

The M30 is also available in matched pairs (M30MP) and with built-in battery-powered preamp (M30BX).

The Earthworks Audio M30 is also known as: M30BX.
