Telefunken Elektroakustik M60 FET
Detachable-Capsule Pencil Condenser Microphone
The M60 FET small-diaphragm condenser is Telefunken Elektroakustik’s first solid-state condenser mic. It is a JFET-based counterpart to the M260 tube microphone, and shares the same family of small-diaphragm capsules with that model.
The circuit is a single-stage transistor design, with a US-made output transformer. The circuit is linear (±2dB) from 20Hz–50kHz.
Sensitivity is rated at 8.6mV/Pa for all three capsules. (The specifications table shown on this page incorrectly lists the sensitivity at 14mV/Pa, but this is only true for the M 260 tube microphone.)
The mic’s stated self-noise is 5dBA, but we assume this is for the circuit only, as small-diaphragm capsules are not capable of such low noise performance. (Note that the Ela M 260 tube SDC is rated at 19dBA.)
The M60 FET was introduced at the AES Convention in Los Angeles in October, 2014, and is scheduled to begin shipping in January 2015.
It will be made available in multiple configurations, e.g.: single mic with Cardioid capsule, single mic with 3 capsules, stereo pair with 6 capsules, etc.
