Sontronics Saturn
Multi-Pattern Condenser Microphone
The Saturn is a large-diaphragm multipattern FET condenser built with Sontronics’ customary retro styling.
The large-diaphragm capsule is a K67 style (not an M7 derivative as previously reported here). The dual diaphragms are gold-plated Mylar. The capsule assembly is shockmounted in the large headbasket by a latex-rubber mount.
A rotary thumbwheel on the mic body allows selection of one of five pickup patterns: Omni, Wide Cardioid, Cardioid, Hypercardioid, or Figure-of-8. A pair of switches enable optional high-pass filters (at 75Hz or 125 Hz) or a pad (-10dB or -20dB).
The mic ships with Sontronics’ trademark shockmount and a velvet-lined, padded aluminum flight case. It carries a lifetime warranty.
The Saturn was first announced and displayed at the Winter NAMM show in January, 2010.
We will update this profile with additional details as they become available.
