Sontronics Delta
Bidirectional Active Ribbon Microphone
The Sontronics Delta is a 48V Phantom-powered ribbon microphone designed primarily for live sound use.
The Delta is closely related to the Sontronics Sigma, with major differences including a wider body shape, added protection around the ribbon assembly, and more colored frequency response. Like many ribbon mics, the Delta has a smooth high frequency rolloff. The Delta also features a noticeable rolloff of low frequencies beginning around 100 Hz as well as a slight bump at 2 kHz.
Sontronics markets the Delta as an ideal choice for electric guitar amplifiers. Reviewers tend to agree, finding the Delta provides a nice alternative to the more traditional dynamic mics often used for guitar amps.

…like all ribbon mics it’s not what you’d consider an all-rounder, so it should be purchased to complement the condensers and dynamics in your mic collection rather than replace them.
SoundOnSound, 2010-04
I found myself favoring the Delta on the gentler clean sounds, but the C414 [B-ULS] on the distorted high-gain Soldano [guitar amp]… I’d think that anyone going for a more classic rock sound would find the Delta to deliver admirably.
The Delta ships in a padded aluminum flightcase and comes with the same unique shockmount included with the Sontronics Sigma.
