Cardioid Dynamic Microphone

The evolution e602 is a dynamic microphone intended for use on kick drum and other low-frequency instruments. The mic has a nominal Cardioid polar pattern, widening toward Omni at low frequencies and narrowing at higher frequencies.

The published frequency chart shows a boosted high and low response, common to the “tailored” EQ curve built into modern kick-drum microphones. The high-frequency boost is +8dB from 2kHz–15kHz; the low-frequency boost is narrower, with a +8dB boost centered at 70Hz.

The mic was replaced by the e602-II, which although identical in appearance is lighter weight with a more aggressively sculpted EQ curve.

Like its successor, and most if not all of the evolution dynamics, the e602 uses a humbucking coil to reduce EMI/RFI noise.

The e602 incorporated a stand mount into its body, much like the MD421. It shipped with a storage pouch.
