Nevaton MC52-MS
Mid-Side Stereo Condenser Microphone
The MC52 is a mid-side stereo microphone. It has extremely low-noise transformerless circuitry, and two large-diaphragm true condenser capsules.
One of the two capsules has a fixed Figure-8 pattern. The other has a fixed Omni pattern, although the mic can be ordered with Cardioid rather than Omni. The two capsules are mounted at a fixed 90° to each other. The Cardioid (or Omni) faces front; the fig-8 faces side-to-side.
The capsules are a large-diaphragm center-terminated design, with an outside diameter of 33mm. They are shockmounted within the MC52 headbasket.
The MC52 includes a breakout cable, allowing the signals from the two capsules to be recorded to separate tracks.
The mic has no internal MS decoder; the user would have to set up a mixing matrix in the DAW or console in order to convert the two mono signals to a left/right stereo mix.
The mic was announced at Winter NAMM, January 2013.
The Nevaton MC52-MS is also known as: MC52-MS.
The mic was released in 2013.
