Detachable-Capsule Condenser Microphone

Gefell’s M270 is a small-diaphragm, omnidirectional condenser microphone. It consists of the SMS 2000 preamp body with the detachable M27 omni capsule.

Available separately are cardioid and hypercardioid capsules.

The M27 Omnidirectional capsule contains a half-inch (~13mm) gold-plated diaphragm in an ~18mm-diameter ceramic housing. The preamp circuit utilizes Gefell’s low-noise, transformerless design, and offers onboard switches for a -10dB pad and a high-pass filter.

The M270 provides the flattest response of the three SMS2000-series mics; it is flat to 3kHz, then rises to +6dB at 10kHz. This deliberate presence peak provides additional clarity and “brilliance” for ambient (“far-field”) recordings.

The M270 mic ships in a padded wooden case in either of two finishes:

  • Satin nickel (p/n 211124)
  • matte black (p/n 211125)

Available separately: mic clips, suspension mounts, foam windscreens, pop filters, etc.

Note: the microphone picture above shows the M200. The omni capsule lacks the vents near the headbasket.

The Microtech Gefell M 270 is also known as: M270.
