MXL V63M Stereo
X/Y Stereo Condenser Stereo Microphone
The V63M Stereo is an XY-stereo FET condenser microphone.
Although it shares a name and a body style with the V63M, this mic is not another large-diaphragm model. Rather, this mic has a pair of 22mm (medium-diaphragm) cardioid capsules in a fixed 90° pickup pattern. See also the MXL 990 Stereo, which appears to be the same microphone in a different body style.
The V63M Stereo, like its large-diaphragm namesake, is a relatively high-noise microphone. It is rated at 20dBA. (The 990 Stereo mic’s specs are contradictory; it is rated both at 14dBA and 20dBA.)
The mic ships with a ring mount (MXL p/n MT-001) and a 10' “Y” cable to split the mic’s 5-pin stereo output into twin 3-pin XLRM outputs. Like the non-stereo V63M, the Stereo mic also fits into MXL’s 57, USM-001, and USM-002 shockmounts.
