MXL 440
Cardioid Condenser Microphone
The MXL 440 is an inexpensive FET condenser with a fixed Cardioid polar pattern. It has a transformerless output circuit.
Its published frequency-response graph shows a scooped response, with a slight low-frequency emphasis (+2dB) around 90–100Hz, and a broad high-frequency peak (+6dB) at 10kHz. The low-end response rolls off sharply below 40Hz.
The mic ships with minimal accessories — just a ring mount (MXL p/n MT-001).
It is sold individually, or in a 2-mic bundle including the MXL 441 pencil mic, in a rugged road case.
