Lauten Audio ST-221 Torch
Detachable-Capsule Pencil Tube Condenser Microphone
The ST-221 Torch is a pencil condenser mic with a tube impedance conversion circuit and two interchangeable capsules.
Lauten positions it as a unique small-diaphragm mic, in that it retains the fast transient response common to SD mics, while producing a low-frequency response that is not common to SD mics.
The amplifier circuit is built around a NOS sub-miniature tube, and uses a custom-wound output transformer.
Although the Torch was initially released as a stereo kit, in 2011 Lauten began selling individual ST-221 microphones. Single mics are shipped with both Cardioid and Omni capsules, a single-channel power supply, and a Gotham cable.
For more info on the stereo kit, see the link in the right sidebar.
The Lauten Audio ST-221 Torch is also known as: torch, ST221, ST-221.
The mic was released in 2008.
