Lauten Audio ST-221 Torch
MSRP: $1,599 Detachable-Capsule Pencil Condenser Tube Microphone
Description
The ST-221 Torch is a pencil condenser mic with a tube amplifier circuit and interchangeable capsules.
Lauten positions it as a unique small-diaphragm mic, in that it retains the fast transient response common to SD mics, while producing a low-frequency response that is not common to SD mics.
The amplifier circuit is built around a NOS sub-miniature tube, and uses a custom-wound transformer.
The ST-221 Torch ships as a pair, with two Omni capsules, two Cardioid capsules, two mic clips, two elastic shockmounts, two dedicated power supplies, two Gotham power cables, two foam windscreens, and a stereo mounting bar. The mics are packed in a sustainably farmed padded wooden box, and the entire kit fits into an aluminum flight case.
Note that the price shown above ($1499 as of this writing) is for two mics, with all the accessories listed above.
The Lauten Audio ST-221 Torch is also known as: torch, ST221, ST-221, ST-221 Torch.
The mic was released in 2008.
