Ear Trumpet Labs Myrtle
Cardioid Condenser Microphone
The Myrtle is a medium-large diaphragm (26mm) condenser microphone designed for live solo performers and small ensembles. Like other Ear Trumpet mics such as Josephine and Louise, it has distinctive styling — Myrtle is visually similar to 1930’s carbon microphones — but it uses the head basket from Ear Trumpet’s more vocal-specific microphone, the Edwina.
The capsule is the well-regarded TSB-2555, coupled to a transformerless FET circuit.
Since Myrtle is designed specifically for ensemble work, it has no low-end filter circuit like the one present in Edwina and Chantelle. Myrtle captures more low end from 250Hz down, giving a flatter response for performers standing more than 6'' away. It also means that Myrtle will exhibit proximity effect if worked close, but Ear Trumpet makes other mics for that application.
Myrtle comes with a mic clip and is shipped in a metal tool case with foam padding.
