Carvin Corporation CM-87S
Cardioid Condenser Microphone
The CM-87S is a Chinese clone of the Neumann U87. It shares body parts and perhaps internal components with numerous Alctron and Soundking products, such as Alctron’s HSMC003 and the Soundking EC011. However, full specs for all these products are not available, preventing an accurate identification.
This mic comes with a dedicated phantom-power supply, suggesting that the mic requires a full 48V supply. Recent industry trends have dropped the phantom output voltage in many consumer-grade preamps; although most mics will run with less than a full 48V, in many cases the sound or other performance characteristics (such as max SPL before distortion) will be compromised.
The mic ships in an aluminum flightcase with a 30' cable, power supply and shockmount.
The Carvin Corporation CM-87S is also known as: CM87, CM87S.
