Brauner Valvet
Multi-Pattern Tube Condenser Microphone
The Brauner Valvet is a dual-pattern, large diaphragm tube condenser that is based on the legendary VM1.
The Valvet features a satin-nickel body and uses a permanently attached EF732 vacuum tube and Lundahl transformer.
Sound On Sound 2004
With typically Germanic build quality, and the characteristically ‘larger than life’ sound associated with Brauner mics, this dual-pattern valve condenser mic provides a rich, detailed, and above all natural recording which compares very favourably with the traditional Neumanns.
Mix Magazine 2000
Although it’s a tube mic, the Valvet isn’t the sort of tube mic that gives that slow, soft, smokey sound. This is the mic to use to get that intimate, down-the-throat R&B ballad vocal. If the vocalist has polyps, you’ll be able to count them. Make sure your vocalist doesn’t have any mouth noise problems. Valvet will not ignore them.
The Valvet ships with: Aluminum case, VOVOX Tubelink Cable, BMS-2 shockmount, and power supply.
The Valvet VPS1 power supply features polar pattern switch (omni or narrow cardioid), 3 position Ground lift, and polarity invert switch. A blue LED indicates power status.

The ‘H’ position is a hard ground, connecting the XLR’s pin one to the chassis earth. The ‘L’ position is a conventional earth-lift mode, allowing pin one to float completely isolated from the chassis. The third position, marked ‘S’, is a ‘soft earth lift’ which couples pin one to the chassis earth through a 0.1µF capacitor, providing a low-impedance path for audio, but very high DC resistance.
