Audix OM5
Hypercardioid Dynamic Microphone
Audix OM5 is a handheld hypercardioid dynamic designed for lead vocals.
OM5 has a tight, uniform hypercardioid pattern, with little to no rear lobe, and deep nulls at ±150°. The pattern narrows significantly above 4kHz.
The low frequency response is attenuated below 120 Hz to reduce boominess and handling noise. A midrange boost from 3 kHz upward helps vocals cut through the mix on stage.
The mic uses Audix’s VLM (very low mass) diaphragm, like the D-series dynamics. Alone among the OM-series mics, the OM5 has an output transformer.
