AKG Acoustics C636
Cardioid Condenser Microphone
The AKG C636 is a high-end, handheld cardioid condenser microphone designed for live performance.
The mic is a modern update of AKG’s C535 EB microphone. The C636 keeps the same sound as the C535 but adds a completely redesigned exterior and some new features designed to make the mic more durable for live performance.
These new features included a new capsule mounting system where the electret capsule - 24k gold plated - sits on top of a rubber bearing to isolate it from the mic body. This new approach, which AKG calls a “double shock suspension,” reduces handling noise compared to the C535.
The C636 has three types of pop filtering: the grille on the headbasket (made from spring steel), a foam mesh layer, and a magnetically-attached, computer-designed mesh layer wrapped around the capsule.
The C636 is available in nickel or black finish, and comes with an SA61 clip and zippered bag.
