Supercardioid Condenser Microphone

The AKG C7 is a handheld supercardioid medium-diaphragm electret condenser microphone.

Designed for stage use, AKG has taken steps to deal with on-stage noise. For instance, in order to reduce handling noise, the capsule is pneumatically isolated from the body of the mic with a proprietary rubber suspension. To reduce wind noise, the capsule has a mesh layer on top in addition to the two-layer metal grille on the headbasket.

Sonically, the capsule — newly designed for this model — has three “vented windows” in the rear to keep the supercardioid pattern more or less perfect down to the bottom of the mic’s response. This is designed to manage and reduce bleed from stage monitors and other instruments.

The AKG C7 comes with a SA61 mic clip and bag.
