Sterling Audio ST44 Tube
Detachable-Capsule Tube Condenser Microphone
The ST44 is a small-diaphragm tube condenser. It appears to be identical to the Groove Tubes GT-44, with the exception that the GT-44 had interchangeable capsules, whereas the ST44 is a fixed Cardioid microphone.
Both microphones use 6-micron, 19mm capsules, subminiature GT6205 pentode tubes, and nickel-plated brass bodies. Both incorporate a switchable high-pass filter and a -15dB pad.
The ST44 employs a hybrid impedance circuit, with a FET front end followed by the pentode tube. The microphone uses an output transformer.
The ST44 ships with its power supply, both power and audio cables, the SM3 shockmount, and a compact aluminum case for the microphone.
According to Sterling Audio, the ST44 was discontinued in 2012.
