Sterling Audio ST31 FET
Hypercardioid Pencil Condenser Microphone
The Sterling ST31 is an inexpensive pencil condenser with a hypercardioid polar pattern.
The mic body is nickel-plated brass, with a painted black finish. The head and grille are stainless steel, and unlike on some competitive models, are not interchangeable.
Compared to the other pencil mics in the Sterling line, the ST31 has significantly higher noise (28dB) and lower sensitivity (5mV/Pa), making it best suited to close-miking loud sources such as drums and brass. Its max SPL is 146dB.
The mic also lacks the pad and filter options, as well as the transformer-coupled output found on the ST33 and ST44 pencil mics.
It ships with the HM-1 hard mount and a storage pouch.
