Soyuz Microphones SU-011
Pencil Tube Condenser Microphone
The SU-011 is a tube microphone with detachable capsules, built into a compact small-diaphragm form factor. Yet its ability to host large diaphragm capsules from its sibling SU-017 makes it a “hybrid microphone” design, like the Oktava MK-012 and 3-Zigma CHI series.
The tube is a subminiature glass pentode, called the 6S6B-V when transliterated from the Cyrillic designation.
We do not have specifics about the SU-011 circuit, except to say that it differs from the SU-017. The SU-011’s output transformer is located in the power supply.
The microphone was first shown publicly at the AES show in Los Angeles in 2014; Soyuz provided the following pricing at that time:
- $1200 for a single microphone (including power supply)
- $2000 for a matched pair of microphones

The mic was released in 2014.
