Soundelux R-1
Cardioid Condenser Microphone
The Soundelux R-1 was a transformerless FET condenser microphone with a large-diaphragm capsule. It was designed “primarily for on-air broadcast talent,” according to product literature.
The mic was reportedly manufactured in China, and used a Chinese-made K67-style large-diaphragm capsule.
The circuit board was populated with through-hole components, including high-end WIMA capacitors.
The mic was very low-noise for its time, with a self-noise rating of 9dBA.

Its exceptional SPL handling make it a natural for close micing drums of any kind, as well as electric bass or electric guitar. Thick, rich tone helps it excel as an inexpensive vocal mic. For those field recordists who want the power and impact only a large diaphragm can deliver, its lightweight, low power consumption and internal pop filter make it ideal.
