Sony C800GPAC
Multi-Pattern Tube Condenser Microphone
The Sony C800G is a high-end tube vocal microphone. The mic was made popular for pop and R&B production by users like Dr. Dre, Mariah Carey, R. Kelly, Kelly Clarkson and many others.
Sony’s C800G capsule is based on the Neumann K67 design. Both are large-diaphragm, dual-diaphragm, center-terminated capsules; the C800G capsule retains the K67’s characteristic backplate drilling pattern.
The mic uses a 6AU6 tube in the body, with a large peltier external heatsink to keep the tube at the optimal temperature. Interestingly, the power supply uses an additional two 6AU6 tubes (as rectifiers).
The mic ships with:
- AC-MC800G (AC Power Supply Unit)
- Wind screen (1)
- Cradle suspension (1)
- Stand screw adator (PF1/2 to NS5/8) (1)
- Stand screw adaptor (PF1/2 to W3/8) (1)
- Mic cable (8m, JIS CNR-01 type, 7-pin) (1)
- Carrying case (1)
- G sticker (1)
- Frequency response chart (2)
The Sony C800GPAC is also known as: C-800G, C800G.
