Shure VP82
Supercardioid Condenser Microphone
VP82 is a compact shotgun microphone for camera-mounted A/V media production.
The VP82 has low self-noise (15dBA), and moderate sensitivity (15mV/Pa). The mic’s supercardioid/lobar pattern is uniformly wide from 250–2500Hz, then begins to narrow.
The published frequency response plot, measured at 2 ft, shows a low-frequency rolloff below 200Hz, and a gradual 5dB rise above 2kHz.
The mic body is made of aircraft-grade aluminum alloy for low weight and high durability. Within this aluminum shell, the mic’s interference tube is made of ABS plastic.
The mic’s class-A transformerless output circuitry is fast and transparent, with less distortion than alternative circuit designs.
The VP82 ships with a zippered storage pouch and a tapered foam windscreen. Shure stocks optional accessories such as a Lyre hotshoe shockmount and “softie” blimp windscreens (all designed exclusively for Shure by Rycote).
