Sennheiser Electronics Corporation MKE 400
Condenser Microphone
The MKE 400 is a compact camera-mount shotgun microphone.
The mic mounts to DSLR or camcorder via hot or cold shoe mounts. A 200mm coiled cable with 3.5mm stereo plug connects the audio output to the camera’s audio input.
The mic is powered by 1 AAA battery; Sennheiser claims the batter has a 300 hour life. Switches on the mic body provide wind filter (low cut) and a high sensitivity mode.
The mic is extremely small (about 6 inches long) and lightweight (only 60gm).
Sam Malley 2011
[compared to Rode VideoMic Pro outdoors]…neither microphone could handle wind. The outdoor shots that I included in the video were by far the best sounding ones I had. Most of the takes were a distorted mess… none of the softie windscreens or wind filter switches on the mics could cut it. The moral of the story? If you’re shooting in real wind, you’ll need a professional microphone with a full-blown zeppelin.
The Sennheiser Electronics Corporation MKE 400 is also known as: MKE400.
