CardioidSamson Meteor

Cardioid Condenser Microphone

Samson’s “Meteor” is a compact USB mic with a folding, integrated tripod stand.

The Meteor uses a large-diaphragm capsule, making it one of only about 10 such mics we’ve seen before. (See other large-diaphragm USB mics.

An 1/8'' headphone jack on the rear allows for zero latency monitoring. A volume knob is on the mic front.

Sound On Sound - 2011
When a clean signal is captured, the sound is flattering without being over-coloured. There’s plenty of presence and the overall sound is slightly ‘fuller’ than average in the midrange, but it’s a perfectly acceptable sound and well suited to voice recording. There were no major issues with sibilance or popping with my own voice. I also recorded a reasonable sound on an acoustic guitar.

The Meteor AD/DA operates at 16 bit, 44.1kHz or 48kHz.

The Samson Meteor is also known as: Meteor Mic.

The mic was released in 2010.
