Samson CL8
Multi-Pattern Condenser Microphone
The Samson CL8 is a large-diaphragm multipattern studio condenser. It is the multipattern version of the company’s CL7, which shares a body shape, capsule design, and most other features.
The capsule is described as a 1.1-inch model, which we interpret to mean 32mm O.D. with 25mm diaphragms. It is center-terminated, and likely a K67 variant as is common to Asian-manufactured microphones. The diaphragm material is described as 3-micron on the Samson website, or 4-micron in the PDF manual.
Two switches on the front of the mic’s body enable the pad (-10dB) and high-pass filter (-12dB/octave at 100Hz). A switch on the rear allows selection of Cardioid, Omni, or Figure-8 patterns.
The mic ships with hard mount and a foam-lined plastic carrying case. An elastic shockmount, model SP01, is available separately.

The mic was released in 2004.
