MXL LSC-1B
Detachable-Capsule Condenser Microphone
The LSC-1 is a handheld vocal condenser microphone with an unusual feature: beneath the removable ball grille, the condenser capsule can be swapped to change the mic’s polar pattern. The LSC mics use the same small-diaphragm capsules as the 603S/604 pencil mics.
With the release of the LSC, MXL also introduced a long-awaited hypercardioid capsule, which is also compatible with MXL’s pencil mics.
For stage use, the ability to swap Cardioid for Hypercardioid could be useful when more feedback rejection is required, or to isolate a smaller area of the stage. MXL recommends the Omni capsule primarily for studio use.
A recessed switch on the rear of the mic body enables a high-pass filter: -18dB at 150Hz.
The mic ships with all three interchangeable capsules (Cardioid, Hypercardioid, Omni), a mic clip, a microfiber cleaning cloth, and an XLR cable, in a plastic carrying case.
It is available in about 36 different color combinations. Available body colors include forest green, pearl, red, white, black, champagne, and blue; grille colors include gold, silver, white, and black.
The MXL LSC-1B is also known as: LSC-1N.
The mic was released in 2010.
