Electro-Voice ND66
Cardioid Pencil Condenser Microphone
The ND66 is, unusually for Electro-Voice, a condenser microphone. It is part of EV’s “ND” series of microphones, designed for both live and studio use. The ND66 is the lone condenser microphone in the ND line.
The ND66, like its sibling ND46, has a locking, pivoting head. The head of the ND66 pivots to seven positions when the lock button on the shank is depressed. Release the lock, and the head stays in place.
The mic has two switchable pads, at -10db and -20db. The pad switch is located on the head of the microphone.
There is also a two-position low cut filter, accessible with a switch on the body of the microphone. The low cut can be set to either 75Hz or 150Hz.
The frequency chart indicates a substantial rise in the upper midrange, with a large peak of approximately 7db at 5kHz. This peak may be balanced out with closer positioning to the source, taking advantage of the large proximity boost at 100Hz.
The ND66 is sold with a mic clip, a foam windscreen (WSND-1), and a cloth bag.
The Electro-Voice ND66 is also known as: ND 66, ND-66.
The mic was released in 2016.
