DPA 4041-S
Detachable-Capsule Pencil Condenser Microphone
The DPA 4041-S is a modular omnidirectional microphone consisting of two parts:
- B&K MMC4041 capsule head: 24mm, stainless-steel diaphragm, capable of 10-20kHz response with only 7dBA self-noise
- MMP4000-S solid-state head amplifier, with 7-pin XLRM connector
The combination requires DPA’s high-voltage power supply, p/n HMA5000, which can power 2 microphones at 130V apiece as well as providing +30dB of amplifier gain, specified at +0dB/-1dB from 10Hz–100kHz.
Although the capsule head is detachable from the head amp, neither B&K nor DPA manufactures other capsules that fit this head amp. The MMC4041 head can be used on DPA’s other 4041-series head amps, as well as B&K measurement equipment.
Surprisingly, although this mic runs at 130V, the B&K capsule is a pre-polarized electret model.
Note that there are two other 4041 head amplifiers from this mic series:
- MMP4000-SP (MSRP $3198) - phantom-powered head amp
- MMP4000-T (MSRP $3331) - head amp with tube circuit
