Apex Electronics 220
Omnidirectional Pencil Condenser Microphone
The Apex 220 is an omnidirectional electret condenser. The 220 is intended for real time analyzer and test equipment use.
It uses a miniature (like ~6mm) electret omnidirectional capsule, and transformerless impedance conversion circuitry. It is designed to produce a flat/linear frequency response, which is useful for measuring the response of loudspeakers and rooms.
These microphones have many applications around the recording studio as well, although their high self-noise level (24dBA in the case of the Apex 220) usually precludes use on quiet acoustic sources.
