AKG Acoustics Perception 120 USB
Cardioid Condenser Microphone
The Perception 120 USB is a small-diaphragm electret condenser microphone with a built-in ADC offering 24-bit resolution. It is essentially a USB version of the Perception 120, and appears to be identical in most published specifications.
The capsule, as in the Perception 120 (XLR), is a 2/3'', back-electret design.
The published frequency-response graphs for the 120 and 120 USB are identical when the high-pass filter is not engaged. The HPF is spec’d differently for the two mics, and therefore produces a different low-end response.
On the 120, the filter cuts LF at 12dB/octave, up to 300 Hz. The USB version of the mic has a gentler filter, 6dB/octave, at a more-conservative 120Hz.
The Perception 120 USB includes a tripod desk stand, mic clip, and a USB cable.
AKG’s Perception microphones were designed by AKG in Vienna. Manufacturing is done in China, under AKG’s “strict quality control.”
