AKG Acoustics D 112
Cardioid Dynamic Microphone
The D112 is a classic large-diaphragm dynamic kick drum mic, with high SPL capabilities (160 dB).
Joel Hamilton
The D112 is awesome in big kicks… If you cant make it happen with a D112, you are the problem.
The frequency response is tailored for kick drum, and as is often true of such mics, is applicable for other low-frequency instruments such as floor tom, bass cab, upright bass, and some brass instruments; there is a LF peak at 100 Hz and a mid-high presence peak around 3500 Hz.
As a dynamic mic, the D112 should ignore phantom power, although the service documentation suggests that the presence of phantom power will reveal short-circuited litz wires, which can get crushed in the housing if the mic is inexpertly reassembled.
AKG
Microphones returned with errors like “hum,” “noisy,” “crackling sound” will most likely have the litz wires damaged.
The D112 (now discontinued) shipped with a mic clip (p/n SA 60).
In 2015, AKG released the D112 MKII which has an integrated stand mount. Also, the impedance has changed from 200Ω to 210Ω. It is in all other ways identical to the D112.
The AKG Acoustics D 112 is also known as: D112, D 112.
