Multi-Pattern Condenser Stereo Microphone

The AKG Model C 426 B is the direct descendent of AKG’s original C 24 and the more recent C 422 stereo microphone models. New technology has improved the dynamic range, self noise, sensitivity, linearity, frequency response between channels and crosstalk.

Two gold-sputtered CK12 dual-diaphragm capsules are arranged in a coincident pair. The microphone head can be rotated 45 degrees against the shaft and the upper capsule rotated 270 degrees against the lower to facilitate quick changeovers between M/S and X/Y techniques. Two LEDs mounted on each rotating capsule provide quick visual verification of the capsule angle from a distance. Switches on the microphone shaft select a bass cut and 10-dB preattenuation pad.

The supplied remote control allows completely noiseless selection among the nine polar patterns available for each capsule.

The C 426 B comes with a shock mount/stand adapter, foam windscreen, 66-ft. (20-m) connecting cable, sturdy carrying case, and remote control.

Note that this microphone’s CK12 capsule is the same as was used in the famous C12 microphone.
