Definition of "acoustalloy":

Acoustalloy is a diaphragm material used by Electro-Voice in dynamic microphones. It is described variously as a “synthetic plastic” and “nonmetallic alloy.” It reportedly provides higher resistance to moisture than would a comparable metallic diaphragm.

Development of the material is credited to Electro-Voice founder Louis R. Burroughs.
