Earthworks Audio QTC30MP Giveaway
Congratulations to Russel Munson, winner of a matched pair of Earthworks Audio QTC30 condensers!
Russel’s name was selected on August 31, 2011.
This month’s microphone giveaway is sponsored by my friends at Earthworks Audio. They have donated a matched pair of QTC30 condensers!
This contest is open to musicians, producers, recordists, audio engineers, podcasters, voice artists, and studio owners. Winners will be asked to submit a photo of their home or commercial studio.
The Prize
The QTC30 is an omnidirectional condenser with a remarkably flat, extended frequency response, from 10 Hz–30 kHz. The miniature 6mm condenser capsules are hand-selected and hand-matched. A pair of these microphones provides an exceptionally realistic stereo picture — incredible for drum overheads or for location recording of choirs or orchestras. Thanks to these mics’ lack of proximity effect, the QTC30 provides an extraordinary solution for close-miking quiet acoustic instruments.
No mic locker is complete without a pair of small-diameter omni condensers. The QTC30 is among the finest on the market.

You folks are truly a class act. Thanks for giving us a shot at winning some mics that would make my drum set breathe fire in any mix. It’s really a wonderful time to be making and recording music. It’s like the business is almost exploding with new and better gear and recording possibilities; there have never been so many choices – and great choices – in my lifetime. Thanks again for making someone’s dream come true every month. What a great feeling that must be!

Although I have put together a rudimentary home studio piece-by-piece over many years, I have never worked with a really high quality microphone. I have gotten to the point where I believe I might actually hear the difference, though—such is my budget and expertise. I would consider it a real learning experience and a true honor to be the recipient of these microphones. The only thing I have ever “won” is a 3′ x 5′ relief map of the United States. I’m due.

Wow, have I got a job for these babies! I will be recording a collection of antique harpsichords, spinets, and pianos dating from 1668 to 1808, fully restored to their former glory The QTC30’s should be ideal to capture the delicacy and subtle harmonics of these amazing instruments.

Would love to own these mics, they would be a huge improvement in my recordings and make any instrument captured very open and most importantly would capture the way the instrument actually sounds! With a pair of these on a high quality instrument you’ve got a deadly combination.
