Noise samples
Compare two ACMP-84s, with gain maxed and an SM-57 plugged into the input and the EQ engaged. Some of what you hear is the sound of the room, but both of these are noisier than my BLA-modded Digi 002-Rack pre’s. (However, the ACMP-84s have nearly 6dB more gain than the BLA 002 too.)

I got lucky and got a quiet one! Sounds great. The only problem is it doesn’t fit in my rack! The chassis is too wide!

I just picked up a used 81 and this thing smokes. On acoustic guitar it gives me THE sound I can’t get from my other budget pre’s even the modded ones. There is no question this is the chance (no pun intended) to get into serious pre-land for cheap. It all is coming down though..the golden age pre is supposed to be great, but for less you get eq too! Cant recommend it enough. J

Hey! Did anyone ever figure out what was causing the pop on the 84? I’ve looked everywhere and I can’t find anything.
